ATTOCK - Six persons of a family drowned when their boat capsized in the River Indus on Sunday.
According to details, eleven persons went to the River Indus near Attock Khurd for picnic and were enjoying boating. Unluckily the boat hit a rock and capsized. Resultantly, all the persons onboard drowned. However, the rescue teams rescued five of them. Those who could not be rescued were residents of Attock and were of the same family. The drowned persons included two men, two women and two children. Till filing of this report two dead bodies were recovered while efforts were under way to recover the remaining four bodies.

APP) adds: Two youngsters drowned in River Swat near picnic spot Fizaghat, Mingora on Sunday, police confirmed.
According to details, a bunch of youngsters were on picnic tour to Fizaghat Park situated on River Swat near Mingora.
The youngsters identified as Arshad and Naveed who were enjoying their bath in River Swat were swept away from the bank to the deep water resultantly both drowned, police said.
The bodies were later on recovered by the local people near Ayub Bridge and were shifted to Saidu Sharif Hospital Swat. On identification, the bodies were handed over to their heirs.
Police also confirmed that in the last one month of Ramazan and during Eid days so far 67 people drowned in River Swat.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Swat Mehmood Aslam through a notification issued on Sunday imposed one month ban under Section PPC 144 on swimming in River Swat.
The decision was taken in the best interest of people as large number of youngsters drowned during the holy month of Ramazan and Eid holidays.
Talking to APP on phone, Deputy Commissioner Swat Mehmood Aslam said that action would be taken under section PPC 188 against those found violating section PPC 144. He said that the flow of the river was quite high, therefore, Section PPC 144 has been imposed.
