ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmad has again requested JUI-F and MQM to withdraw their motions regarding deseating of 28 PTI members.
He said the government is taking steps to create peace, end corruption and terrorism. However, he said, the government cannot do all these things alone. He was of the view that putting the motions to vote will create division.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the motions should be deferred for a few days to complete the consultation within the party and with other political parties.
He said if the government and other political parties convinced us for withdrawal then we will withdraw the motion. He said they want supremacy of the constitution and continuation of political system.
Dr Farooq Sattar said strengthening of democracy is not possible without abiding by the Constitution. He said a request should come from PTI for condoning their absence for forty days.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said PTI believes in supremacy of the constitution, sovereignty of the Parliament and the continuation of democratic system in the country.
He demanded that the House should decide the matter today.
Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said motions moved by in the assembly are reality and it will take time to find a solution.
Sahibzada Tariqullah, Shaikh Rashid Ahmad, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Ijazul Haq, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Jamshed Dasti, Rashid Godil also spoke on the occasion and said the matter should not be prolonged and decided at the earliest.
Speaker National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in a ruling said the Ruling of Speaker cannot be called in question regarding resignations of the PTI members.
He said if anyone wants to rescind the ruling, he should move a motion for the purpose.
Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division Usman Ibrahim told the House that Class V students are being paid 200 rupees per month for three years and for VIII Class students 300 rupees per month for two years.
This he said to a call attention notice moved by Asiya Naz Tanoli. He said the scholarships are being paid regularly.
Earlier, National Assembly has resumed its session in Islamabad today with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the chair.
The House is transacting private members' business.
