Islamabad: According to a poll conducted by Gilani Research Foundation; only 53% of the respondents had heard about the regional elections in Gilgit Baltistan, while 77% believed that these when conducted were transparent.
According to press statement issued on Tuesday, a nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was chosen and asked whether they had heard about the regional elections recently held in Gilgit Baltistan where Pakistan Muslim League (N) had gained victory. 53% of the respondents said Yes, 46% of the respondents did not know anything regarding this while 1% of the respondents were indifferent.
Respondents who had heard about these elections were further asked, “In your opinion, to what extent were the recent elections in Gilgit Baltistan transparent and fair?” 38% of the respondents said that they were very transparent, 39% said that they were somewhat transparent, 13% said that they were little transparent and 10% said that they were not transparent at all.
