HYDERABAD - Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party chief Dr. Qadir Magsi has called upon the leaders of Sindh nationalist parties to train youth with ideology instead of giving weapons in their hands as the solution of the issue of the province based in ideology instead of guerilla war.
Addressing a news conference here at Hyderabad Press Club on Wednesday, he said that though nationalists' movements in Sindh are old, but now these forces should adopt democratic way for getting their rights. The Sindh Taraqi Pasad Party has no link with any movement of Sindhu Desh as the party believed to struggle for the rights of Sindh within Pakistan, he maintained.
Dr. Qadir Magsi however termed the deaths of Sindhi youth as extra judicial killings which is a cause of great concern for the people of Sindh who believed in peace and tranquillity. The murder of Dr. Khalid Mehmood Soomro also created sense of insecurity among the people of the province, he added.
He said it is the duty of the Sindh government to conduct investigation into the matter and form a judicial commission for the purpose. If the Sindh government avoided taking notice, Dr. Magsi said, then he will request the Chief Justice of Pakistan to form a commission for investigation of the murders of these youth. Dr. Qadir Magsi on the occasion also announced to observe token hunger strikes from December 9 to 11, at all district headquarters against the killings of the youth of the province and also advised the relatives of the deceased persons to pursue the legal course.
Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro Prof Noshad A Shaikh said that around 450 outstanding students have the honour of joining one of the leading medical institution in the country every year.
They are formally welcomed at the Liaquat University's newest class of medical students when they get admissions, he said while addressing the "Day One Ceremony" of the students selected for admission to MBBS and BDS session 2014-2015.
The ceremony is a rite of passage for first year medical students, designed to polish the values of professionalism, humanism and compassionate patient care, the VC said and added that it is the official welcome to the medical profession and to the family of this University.
These students will become a part of the legacy of thousands of
alumni whose contributions to medical science have resulted in advances that have expanded the boundaries of knowledge and saved the lives of countless individuals, he said.
