Talks with TTP nothing to do with Haider’s release

Former prime minister and Pakistan People’s Party Vice Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani declared that dialogue between the government and Talban had nothing to do with the release of his son specifically. He, however, added that if exchange of prisoners took place as a result of agreement between the government and Talban, everyone including his son could be released.
Talking to reporters here the other day, the former PM said that political parties had mandated the government through APC to hold dialogue with Talban and the PPP would support the government if required to end militancy from the government. Gilani claimed that Thar coal project had been initiated by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari disseminated a positive message by performing its inauguration jointly.
He pointed out that the statements of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari were the part of party policy, insisting that the PPP was pursuing the policy of reconciliation but playing the role of a real opposition by highlighting the burning national issues.
He declared that future of the PPP was very bright and it would emerge as a strong power of Punjab soon. Yousuf Raza Gilani argued that resolution of the problems of Southern Punjab was linked with new province and the PPP would continue it struggle for the south Punjab province. Former Punjab governor Makhdoom Syed Ahmed Mehmood, former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar, MNA Makhdoom Mustafa Mehmood and PPP district president Engineer Javed Akbar Dhaloon were also present on the occasion.
ACID ATTACK: A man threw acid over his brother and two children on a minor family dispute in Sadiqabad, 35-km from here.
The incident occurred when children of two brothers - Muhammad Aslam and Muhammad Akhtar - residents of Mohajar Colony quarrelled with each other on a minor issue. Meanwhile, Muhammad Akhtar got angry and threw acid on his brother Muhammad Aslam and his two children Irfan and Sumaira who were immediately shifted to THQ Hospital by Rescue 1122.  According to rescue sources the victims were s zable but acid affected their body and some part of face. The Sadiqabad City Police have arrested the accused and started investigation.
