KARACHI (PPI) - Special Court (Custom, Taxation & Anti-Smuggling), Karachi, Saturday directed Customs officials to submit till August 7, 2010 charge sheet against four accused charged with smuggling liquor through containers engaged in supplies to NATO & International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan from Karachi. FBR DG Intelligence & Investigation received information that large quantity of liquor was being smuggled to Afghanistan in guise of supplies to NATO & ISAF. During scanning of a container, staff seized 28,800 beer bottles, 4,416 beer cans, 288 liquor bottles & 17,204 liters wine from consignment booked by M/s Wire Link International & M/s Furqan International on April 24, 2010 and arrested four accused Ghulam Mustafa, Muhammad Qadeer, Muhammad Athar & Rizwan Yousuf & two separate cases (FIR 287 & 288) were registered against them. On Saturday, Customs intelligence officials Anwar Javed & Arif submitted four accused were taken into custody. , investigation still underway & consignment documents were being verified from concerned departments. Custom officials requested for further time to complete investigation & submit charge sheet against accused. Riaz Ahmed Phulpoto, Judge Special Court (Custom, Taxation & Anti-Smuggling) granted time with direction to submit charge sheet till August 7, 2010.
