RAWALPINDI - Three highwaymen looted commuters after blocking the Kotli Sattian Road on late Tuesday night, the victims and sources told The Nation on Wednesday.
Interestingly, DSP Murree Circle Raja Muhammad Taifoor was completely unaware of the incident whereas the cell phone of Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Kotli Sattian Raja Qayyum was switched off when contacted.
A gang of robbers blocked the road with stones and fallen tree-trunks. They kept on looting the commuters for more than two hours. The police personnel on patrolling duty could not even get the wind of the incident. Most of the looted drivers and passengers were those going to Lehtrar, Kotli Sattian, Biaga, Burj and Maloor Sattian.
DSP Raja Taifoor, when contacted, denied that any such incident. However, sources told that a case in this regard has also been filed with PS Kotli Sattian. SHO's cell phone was powered off when tried by this scribe to get his point of view.
Robbers and auto theft gangs also remained up in the arms in various parts of the city by swaging gold ornaments, cash and mobile phones to the tune of million of rupees and picking up two vehicles, a tractor and four motorcycles.
