Four dacoits were allegedly killed in two shootouts with police occurred in different areas here on Friday.
According to police sources, three dacoits were looting citizens by setting up a picket in Qila Sattar Shah area of Sheikhupura. Meanwhile, someone tipped off the police about criminals’ activity. The police sprung into action and rushed to the area. However, as soon as the outlaws sighted the police, they started indiscriminate firing on them which the police retaliated. The crossfire continued for quite some time as a result all the three bandits were killed. According to sources, the deceased robbers were wanted by the police in several cases of murder, dacoity and other heinous crimes.
In Gujranwala, a notorious robber having head money of Rs one million was killed in exchange of fire with police here on Friday.
The police said that the shootout took place in Baghbanpura locality of Gujranwala where the police on a tip regarding presence of outlaws conducted operation. During the crackdown the criminals, holed up in the area started firing on the raiding police party and tried to escape which led to exchange of fire. During the crossfire, a notorious robber wanted by the police in dozens of cases of murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, robberies and others crimes. Reportedly, the government had announced a bounty of Rs1 million on his head.
