KHANEWAL - Regional Police Officer (RPO) Mubarik Ali Athar has said that the objective of holding open courts is to resolve the public grievances promptly and ensure timely justice dispensation. The holding of open courts also aims at collecting positive public suggestions to improve police performance and materialise the dream of the betterment of society through the positive criticism of the police.
He stated this while addressing the participants of an open court held here at DPO Office the other day.
Khanewal DPO M Waqar Abbasi, SP (Investigations) Naeemul Hasan Babar, Kabirwala DSP Ch Sajjad Gujjar, DSP City Javeed Khan, Jahania DSP, Mian Channu DSP and lawyers, traders, Ulema and notables of the area also attended the open court.
He further said that if the police officers perform their duty honestly and devotedly to provide safety and justice to the common man, this will not only be their professional duty but also they will get the blessing of the Almighty Allah.
The RPO said that the implication of innocent people in cases was great injustice and people should avoid this malpractice. The RPO emphasised that the police should not abuse its powers and utilize all energies and resources for ensuring early and smooth provision of justice to the oppressed and needy people.
He claimed that active mutual cooperation between the police and public was vital for curbing the menace of the crime. He said that the elimination of corruption and touts was the top priority and the asked the police officials to adopt leniency, morality and good attitude towards oppressed people.
RPO Mubarik Ali said most of the people who approached him at the open court complained about the corruption and inefficiency in the department.
He directed the DPO to take notice of the matter and submit an inquiry report to him. He said people’s confidence in the Police Department was low and urged his force to improve its public image.
He vowed to reprimand and punish officials whose performance was not up to the mark or who were found guilty of corruption.
