Three security men among five killed in Bajaur blasts

BAJAUR AGENCY - At least five persons including a Subedar along with two other personnel of the security forces and two civilians were killed while another sustained injuries in two separate bomb blasts in Bajaur Agency on Thursday.Planted by unidentified miscreants a bomb exploded at about 8:30am at Chamarkand village at tehsil Chamarkand in Bajaur Agency. As a result, two persons identified as Inzar Gul and his son Adil Gul died. Soon after the blast, personnel of law enforcement agencies rushed to the area and were busy in clearing the area, when suddenly another bomb exploded with a big band, in which, two personnel of the Frontier Corps were killed while another FC man sustained injuries. The killed were identified as Subidar Riaz and Sepoy Afsar Ali and Levis Force personnel Rohul Ameen.The forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation, in which a total of 12 suspected persons were arrested and sent to unknown destination for further interrogation.AFP adds:  Two bomb attacks killed at least five people. The first attack killed two pro-government tribal elders in Chamarkand village, local government official Tariq Khan told AFP. The second bomb exploded 10 minutes later after security forces arrived and began a search operation to find the culprits, Khan said.There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but tribal elders supporting military operations against local Taliban fighters are frequently attacked. Bajaur saw major anti-Taliban offensives in August 2008 and February 2009, and the military has repeatedly declared the district secure.
