SIALKOT-Gepco has announced to purchase 500 high capacity transformers to replace the low capacity ones in districts of Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Gujranwala under a multi-phased upgradation programme.
Chief Executive Gepco Mian Muneer Ahmed said talking to newsmen that the low capacity transformers were not working accurately due to overloading and often become out of order due to some repeated technical faults in the Gujranwala region.
Accompanied by PRO Rana Muhammad Jehangir, the CE revealed that Gepco had allocated a chunk of Rs200 million for the purpose. He said that it had also planned to introduce special cards for the customers to reduce the complaints about the inflated billing.
He said that the meter readers would note the units consumed on the meters on cards for the consumers’ convenience. He added that an all-out effort was being made for the promotion of Pepco’s image. He said that it had started special monitoring of 114 complaints cells and all the Gepco field officer had also been directed to focus their attention on the provision of better services.
The construction of eight 132 KV grid stations was about to complete and the same would start functioning in the next month and help control the loadshedding of electricity, line losses and fluctuation in power voltages. The project would provide better facilities for the consumers in Gujranwala Region. It has spent Rs2.46 billion on the construction of the grid stations established at Old Power House Sialkot, Gohdpur-Sialkot, Kolo Tarar, Hafizabad-II, Jalalpur, Awan Sharif, Khiyali and Sheranwala Bagh.
On the other hand, the upgradation of four 66-KV grid stations at Head Marala, Daska, Siraanwali (in Sialkot district) and at Malikwal (in Gujrat district) was briskly underway, as the Pepco was spending Rs1 billion on the project.
Gepco’s board of directors had approved the upgradation project to provide maximum connections for the local industrial units. The upgradation of four 66 KV grid stations located at Head Marala, Daska, Siraanwali (in Sialkot district) and at Malikwal (in Gujrat district) was briskly underway by the Gepco, as the Gepco was spending Rs1 billion on this up-gradation project. The Gepco chief said that the project would complete in the next two years and help minimise overloading and tripping. He added that the low capacity grid stations were unable to serve the local industries.
