Electricity shortfall increases to 4600 MW

Islamabad: As the temperature rises with each passing day, the electricity shortfall has reached 4600 megawatts (MW) across the country with many rural areas witnessing load shedding for up to 15 hours.

Official sources confirmed that due to the growing demand, a total of 9-hour load shedding in cities and 15-hour in rural areas is being observed.

The country’s total electricity demand is 15100 MW against a total production of 10500 MW, widening the demand and supply requirement to 4600 MW.
