KARACHI - Pakistan People’s Party provincial women lawmakers on Sunday came out in support of the party leadership against the allegations being hurled by former PPP leader Zulfiqar Mirza.
They warned him that if women would come out to confront Mirza then he would found no space for hiding.
They also demanded Mirza to stop hurling baseless allegations against the PPP leadership including Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur otherwise they could also reply him in the same tone. They also challenged that Mirza’s election surety would be confiscated if he would contest the election even against the PPP woman activist.
Addressing a press conference along with PPP women lawmakers, Sindh Assembly Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza said the allegations hurled by Mirza against the PPP leadership were far from reality. She also condemned Mirza for using abusive language, saying they will not tolerate any statement against Asif Zardari and PPP women wing chief Faryal Talpur. “Ms Talpur had given sacrifices for strengthening the democracy in the country and after the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto, she actively played part in reorganising the structure of women wing of the party,” she said.
She said Mirza was playing in the hands of those elements who had earlier tried to use some rotten eggs of the party against the leadership of Benazir Bhutto also. He did not even have his own clothes. He should be thankful to Asif Ali Zardari for everything he possesses today.
“Zulfiqar Mirza is like a rebellious bird which did not have anything of his own. It was the party which made him the Interior Minister of the province, her wife Dr Fehmida Mirza the Speaker of the National Assembly and his son the MPA,” she explained.
She said Mirza had claimed that there were differences between Bilawal Bhutto and Asif Zardari and tried to posed himself as the sympathiser of Bilawal. When he went abroad to meet Zardari, he was not allowed to do so and returned to the country after meeting the killers of Javed Nagori’s brother.
Raza said Pemra should take notice of media trial of the PPP and ban Zufiqar Mirza on using such abusive language against the PPP leadership. Sindh Special Education Minister Rubina Qaimkhani said it was Asif Ali Zardari who won Mirza the provincial assembly seat from Badin. She said no PPP worker or leader would tolerate any harsh word against Faryal Talpur.
He should stop pursuing the agenda of the dictators, she added. Qaimkhani said PPP gathering in Lyari was a “slap on the face of Zulfikar Mirza.”
Speaking on the occasion, Sharmila Farooqui said Mirza had no value if the PPP tag was detached from him. “We reserve the right to respond to any foul language against our leaders.” The PPP lawmakers also urged Mirza to first start accountability from his own home and inform the people regarding Zafar Farid who sends an amount of Rs10 million monthly to him.
They also condemned Mirza for his involvement in creating law and order situation in Badin and raiding the police station.
