Badin: A heavy police contingent and two Armed Personnel Carriers (APCs) have been deployed, outside former Sindh home minister and estranged Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Dr Zulfiqar Mirza’s farmhouse in Badin district. Decision regarding his arrest has not been taken yet.
Zulfiqar Mirza and his aides were booked under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), on charges of harassing Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abdul Qadir Samoon at Badin Model Police Station and forcibly shutting down markets in the district. Mirza was infuriated by the arrest of his aide Nadeem Mughal .
Top police officials also held a meeting at SP Office in Badin, where they discussed options regarding arrest of Mirza but the decision was postponed. Heavy contingent of police and commandos have been summoned from Badin, Thatta, Hyderabad and Sajawal to avert any untoward incident.
On the other hand, shutter down strike is being observed in Badin, Golarchi, Tando Bago and Talhar in protest against registration of case against Zulfiqar Mirza.
