Cops, clerks injured in scuffle on court premises

MANDI BAHAUDDIN – A scuffle between clerical staff of lawyers and policemen took place on the court premises when Mangat police Sub Inspector Sarfraz allegedly started beating up an accused.
Riaz, involved in a dacoity case, was produced before the area magistrate for taking physical remand by the police. In the court, Riaz made hue and cry, saying that he had been implicated in a fake case by the police. The accusation irritated the SI. As they came out of the court, the SI started beating up the accused on the court premises.
The policeman’s act infuriated clerk’s colleagues who then belabored him. Later, the other police personnel deployed there also thrashed them. The lawyers present in the court intervened and disengaged the parties. As a result, the three clerks and same number of police personnel including the SI police suffered minor injuries. However, the magistrate has ordered medical examination of the injured clerks for registering case against police personnel. The lawyers condemned the police torture on the clerks.
