Six killed in grenade attack on Orakzai jirga

ORAKZAI AGENCY - At least six people including two alleged attackers were killed and two others injured in a hand-grenade attack on a tribal jirga in Orakzai Agency on Sunday.
A jirga was in session to decide a land dispute between two rival tribes at Top Kalli village in lower tehsil of Orakzai Agency, when suddenly a youngster from one of the tribes hurled a hand-grenade at the jirga members.
Resultantly, four jirga members identified as Naseer Hussain s/o Sultan Jan, Hussain Kazim s/o Najaf Hussain, Malik Hussain s/o Najaf Hussain and Anwar Hussain s/o Noor Qasim Shah died on the spot in the attack.
Two of them Malik Hussian and Hussian Kazim were stated to be brothers.
Two others - Sameen Hussian and Lal Anwar - sustained critical injuries. The Qaumi Lashkar taking prompt action not only gunned down both the grenade attackers on jirga, but also set on fire their house in the same locality.  The alleged attackers identified as Noor Hussain s/o Saidu and Tahir s/o Saidu, who are real brothers are also stated to be involved in dacoities and killings.
add: An official of the political administration from Kalaya, headquarters of Lower Orakzai, said the incident took place around 5:00 pm.
According to some reports, the jirga was convened to discuss a family dispute between a man identified as Tehwar Hussain and his rivals.
The situation got tense at one point and Hussain threw a hand grenade towards the rival party. The hand grenade exploded, killing Hussain and two tribesmen on the spot.
Four of them were also injured, of whom two succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital and the rest were admitted in a critical condition. Orakzai Agency is one of the seven tribal agencies where the military is engaged with Taliban militants.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.  The motive of the attack, which resulted in loss of six lives, is yet to be known.
