Gilani cries of ‘victimisation’

MULTAN - Former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that political victimisation has gone beyond all limits in the era of government claiming to be democratic.
Talking to senior journalists on phone here on Thursday, he said that 21 new cases had been registered against him but he was not afraid of anything. “Country’s political history is evident of the fact that PPP has always been subjected to victimisation, but it is PPP that has given far more sacrifices for democracy than anyone else,” he claimed. He said that more than two years had passed since his son was kidnapped but no development took place in his recovery while on the other hand 21 cases were registered against him. He said that he was in a court a few days back when he came to know that another case was registered against him and now he was on bail in that case.
He said that he had come to know that the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) sent a questionnaire at his Multan residence regarding appointments in the company. “I am in Islamabad and I haven’t seen this questionnaire. I’ll answer it after consulting legal experts,” he added. Gilani reiterated that he would face all cases. “But it should stay clear that the institution of NAB is under federal government and nothing is done without government’s consent,” he maintained.
He said that he always respected the courts and he would continue to do so. To a query, he said that neither he received any letter from Ali Haider Gilani nor he was in contact with him.
“I am busy facing the cases. Daily when I get up, I come to know that a new case is registered against me,” he lamented.
