The district police continued search operation in targeted areas and claimed to have arrested seven illegal Afghan nationals.
DPO Syed Nasir Ali Rizvi said that targeted operations are being conducted under the National Action Plan to check movement and presence of terrorists and other criminals.
He claimed that the district police have nabbed hundreds of suspectS and huge cache of arms and ammunitions, recovered in the ongoing search operation being conducted across the district.
Few days ago, the district police arrested two criminals - Mohammad Sadiq and Akbar Ali. The police recovered 95 different illegal arms including rifle 22-bore, 13 revolvers, one rifle of 222-bore, 10 7mm rifles, 18 bore rifles, 16 pump action, 4 repeater, and 24 pistols from their processions, he disclosed.
He said that 346 information-based operations had been conducted in last year in which 3,000 suspects had been interrogated and bio-metric verification had been made. The district police have launched crackdown on violators of property rent law, sound system and wall-chalking. He added that in collaboration with Ulema, traders and journalists, the police had got tremendous success and getting better day-by-day.
The DPO vowed that targeted operation would continue incessantly for the protection of people and thwarting evil designs of the terrorists.
“Any police official found negligent in duty will face legal action,” Mr Rizvi warned, adding that the police would restore confidence of the public in the police through better performance.
The DPO said that it was the responsibility of police to maintain peace and provide security to people.
