ISLAMABAD - The minimum amount of Fitrana has been fixed at Rs100 per head this year‚ said Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman on Sunday.
Talking to APP‚ he said that according to the market price of 2.25 kilograms of flour‚ the amount for Fitrana was calculated as Rs100. The faithful‚ who want to pay Fitrana equal to the price of barley‚ dates and raisins should pay Rs200‚ Rs1‚120 and Rs2‚200 per head‚ respectively‚ he added.
He said a Muslim‚ who possessed food in excess of his needs‚ must pay Sadqa-e-Fitr before the Eid prayers. If the person is a breadwinner‚ he should also pay Sadqa-e-Fitr for his dependants‚ such as wife‚ children‚ dependent relatives or servants‚ he added.
Mufti Muneeb advised the people to pay the amount to the poor before Eidul Fitr, so that they could also celebrate the festival. The most deserving people for Sadqa-e-Fitr were close relatives followed by neighbours and the poor.
Meanwhile‚ Allama Syed Zafar Abbas‚ Khateeb Imambargah F-11 Markaz‚ Islamabad told APP that the minimum amount of Fitrana for Faqh-i-Jafria was Rs150. The people‚ who eat wheat will have to pay Rs150 for each member of the family / dependents‚ while those who eat both wheat and rice will have to pay Rs300 per person‚ he added. He urged the people not to forget the needy and deserving in the Eid celebrations.
