Admin prepares to ensure fairness, peace today

The district administration has said that all the arrangements have been made to ensure the conduct of third phase of the local bodies’ elections in a free, fair and transparent manner in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur districts and announced public holiday today.
In DG Khan, Over 1,161,013 registered voters, 507,101 of them women and 653,912 men will exercise their right in one Municipal Corporation DG Khan, District Council DG Khan, two municipal committees Kot Chutta and Taunsa Sharif. The voters will cast their votes at 958 polling station including 121 for females, 5 improvised polling stations, 2,436 polling booths under the supervision of 8,148 polling personnel including 953 presiding officers, 4,759 assistant presiding officers and 2,436 polling staffers.
As many as 520 joint candidates are battling for the chairman / vice chairman slots across the district DG Khan. For district council, a total of 429 joint candidates are in the race and 2,142 candidates including 5 females will be aiming for general councillor seats in District Council DG Khan.
For Municipal Corporation DG Khan, 91 joint candidates of chairman and vice chairman are in the run, while 03 female candidates of chairman and one female candidate of vice chairman are also contesting on the general seats.
Likewise, 373 candidates including 6 females are contesting for general councillor seat Municipal Corporation. For 20 wards of Municipal Committee Taunsa Sharif, 98 candidates are contesting in Municipal Committee including one female candidate on general councillor seat.
For 13 wards of Municipal Committee Kot Chutta, 53 candidates will be aiming for general councillor seat. Over 3,300 police officers, 60 teams of Elite Police Force, 1,200 Qaumi Razakars, more than 2,800 additional police personnel including 100 female personnel from Multan, Gujranwala, Sargodha and Farooqabad, 07 companies of Army troops including Rangers have been deputed in the district to perform security duties on the occasion.
Sources said that the personnel from all these security agencies would remain in contact with one another and also with the central control room. The district has been divided into 115 union councils including 9 UCs of tehsil de-excluded areas, a total of 958 polling stations including 5 improvised polling stations and 108 of tribal area, out of which 50 have been declared sensitive (‘A’ category), 290 in ‘B’ and 505 in the ‘C’ category in DG Khan urban and rural areas. In Rajanpur, over 789404 registered voters, 356330 of them women and 433074 men will exercise their right in District Council Rajanpur and five municipal committees namely Rajanpur, Jampur, Fazil Pur, Rojhan and Kot Mithan.
Registered voters will cast their votes at 579 polling station including 95 female polling stations, 01 improvised polling station, 1793 polling booths including 838 female polling booths across the district under the supervision of 14 returning officers and one district returning officer. As many as 237 joint candidates are battling for the chairman/vice chairman top slots of the District council Rajanpur and 1,430 candidates will be aiming for general councillor seat in District Council.
As many as 352 candidates are contesting on general councillor seat of five municipal committees in district including 85 for Municipal Committee Jampur, 71 for Municipal Committee Rajanpur, 68 for Municipal Committee Kot Mithan, 76 for Municipal Committee Fazilpur, and 52 for Municipal Committee Rojhan.
Over 5,500 police personnel including two superintendent of police, 13 S DOPs, 307 police officers, 347 head constables and 2,037 constables, 40 teams of Elite Police Force, personnel of Muhafiz Squad, Special Branch, Additional Reserve Police, 02 companies of Pakistan Army have been deputed in the District to perform security duties on the occasion.
