AC rejects NAB’s plea to extend suspect’s physical remand

ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court (AC) has rejected the plea of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to extend the physical remand of accused allegedly involve in corruption scandal of National Fertilizer worth Rs 1.5 billion.

The court sent him jail on judicial remand, instead.

According to details, it is revealed that the name of accused Abu Bakar is included in the Exit Control List (ECL). The hearing of the case was conducted by Judge of AC Muhammad Bashir. The NAB has prayed the AC to extend the physical remand of the accused which has been rejected and sent him in jail on judicial remand.
The NAB’s prosecutor told the court during the hearing that accused has tempered in important official files and made fake signature also. On this, the counsel of accused told that case has continued in the court of Lahore for three years adding that NAB has completed its inquiry therefore more physical remand is not needed.

The name of accused is included in the ECL, therefore he cannot escape abroad. The AC has granted the judicial remand of the accused while rejecting the plea of the NAB.
