Pledge to Kashmir freedom being renewed today

MIRPUR (AJK) - The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government as well as social, political and human rights organisations across the state will observe Kashmir Solidarity Day with the renewal of pledge to continue support for the liberation of Occupied Kashmir here on Tuesday (today).
"Kashmir Solidarity Day  is one of  the occasions of significance in Kashmir which is celebrated every year to reiterate solidarity with the people of Jammu & Kashmir in their just and principled struggle for freedom and to achieve their globally acknowledged right to self-determination", said AJK Senior Minister and top AJK PP leader Ch Muhammad Yasin.
Talking to The Nation on Monday, Yasin said that the day was most valuable for the Kashmiri people, inhibiting either side of the line of control and rest of the world.
He said that Kashmir Solidarity Day was the day of exceptional significance for Kashmiris. He said that the day was being celebrated by the Pakistani nation and the government as well as in Azad Jammu Kashmir to renew the bondage of long and deep rooted love and affection with the kashmiri brethren by extending all possible moral political and diplomatic support to their indigenous struggle for liberation of the motherland from Indian yoke, he added.
The PPP leader said that Pakistan always considered Kashmir as the core issue between India and Pakistan. This remains a flashpoint between the two neighbours and has also lead to three wars between them. The World leaders have stressed the need for the resolution of Kashmir dispute to avert any eventuality that may cause a catastrophe in the region.
He recalled that Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed on February 5, every year since 1990 as a day of protest against the long Indian unlawful occupation against the aspirations of the people of the state. The current uprising against the Indian occupation of Kashmir began in 1989 and in view of its popularity the then government of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto declared it an official holiday in 1990. Ever since each year February 5 is observed as Kashmir Solidarity Day, by Pakistanis throughout the country and abroad as well as in Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
Meanwhile, arrangements have been finalised to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day throughout Pakistan and AJK to reiterate solidarity with the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
