Militants blow up schools in Charsadda, Bannu

CHASADDA/BANNU - Using explosives, militants blew up two government-run schools in district Charsadda and Bannu on Tuesday.
According to details, Government Primary School For Boys at Konra Colony in Shabqadar tehsil, Charsadda was partially damaged when a planted bomb went off, while the bomb disposal squad managed to defuse another bomb recovered from the same location.
Police said that some unidentified persons had put 5 kg explosives in oil can and placed it near the school. A room in the school and its veranda were partially damaged.
Being informed, police rushed to the site and managed to recover another locally-made 5kg explosive, which was successfully diffused by bomb disposal squad before it could do any damage. Police also cordoned off the area and kicked of search operation to nab the outlaws involved in the terror incident. However, no arrest was made till filing this report.
In Charsadda, some 15 schools have so far been exploded by terrorists.
In another similar attack, unidentified miscreants planted explosives along the boundary wall of Government Girls Primary School Norar in district Bannu. The bomb exploded, partially destroying the school building. However no loss of life was reported in the incident. Police rushed the site and cordoned off the area.
More than a dozen schools have so far been targeted in Bannu.
