Struggle of Kashmiris is fight of entire nation: Nawaz

Muzaffarabad- Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today vowed that Pakistan would continue its political and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people, in their struggle for freedom and right to self-determination.

Nawaz was addressing the Azad Kashmir legislative assembly on the occasion of Kashmir Day. “Pakistanis fully support the struggle of their Kashmiri brethrens and sisters and I assure you that no solution against the will of Kashmir people will be accepted. We think that our agenda of dialogue with India is incomplete without Kashmir issue. There is no solution to this problem, but the right of self-determination,” he said.

The premier said, only a fair resolution of the dispute would ensure lasting peace in the region and urged the international community to play its part in the matter. Nawaz Sharif said that the struggle of the people of Kashmir is the struggle of the entire nation.

“Our hearts beat with the hearts of our Kashmiri brothers. As a nation we express our sympathies with those who have lost their lives in the dispute,” the PM said, at the joint session of Kashmir council in Muzaffarabad on the occasion of Kashmir Day.

Commenting on the difficulties faced by the people of Kashmir Prime Minister Nawaz said that Kashmir will soon be free and that any decision in this regard will not be made without their consultation.

“There will be no compromise in the matter. This is an issue for the whole nation and with our determination and resolve, we will make progress,” the premier said.

Highlighting the importance of Kashmir for Pakistan the premier assured, he would be visiting Muzaffarabad in March and address the people of Kashmir. “I will help Kashmir to the best of my potentials. As Pakistan grows, we also want Kashmir to grow with us,” he added.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister said that it was the responsibility of his government and himself to provide, continued support for Kashmir and urged his officials to set a date for their visit to Muzaffarabad next month.

Earlier, he was received by AJK President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan and Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed along with senior government officials.

The Prime Minister was presented the guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of police. He held a meeting at AJK Speaker's chamber also attended by the AJK President and Prime Minister.
