KPK Assembly for concrete steps to control power outages


PESHAWAR - Treasury and opposition benches in KPK Assembly on Friday unanimously asked the centre to take concrete and effective steps to overcome electricity loadshedding forthwith in the province.
On a point of order, Deputy Speaker, KPK Assembly, Khushdil Khan, raised the issue of excessive unscheduled loadshedding being constantly carried out in his constituency, and said that despite the fact that PESCO chief was called and he was apprised of the power outages, but to no avail, which he said was regrettable.
The KPK Assembly met with Speaker Kiramatullah Khan in the chair. Another lawmaker of ANP Ateef-ur-Rehman, while backing his colleague said that it has become a routine to carry out loadshedding in his constituency due to which, there has been water shortage.
The KPK Assembly must take it serious, as it is the real issue the people of the province were facing. JUI-F MPA Syed Janan and PML-N lawmaker Sardar Aurangzeb Nalota also addressed the assembly and said that their electorates have fed up hours long power breakdown in their respective areas.
Concluding the debate, KPK minister for law and parliamentary affairs Arshad Abdullah asked the Speaker to invite PESCO chief, whenever Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti is present in the house as it would produce positive results.
In his speech, KPK minister for information Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that in order to eliminate terrorism, there was need to hold meaningful talks with militants, if it did not produce positive results, then time has come to take effective steps till rooting out militancy.
In this connection, he said, all political and religious parties must get united and must on one page. He condemned terrorist attacks and incident said that ANP was serious for talking and his party top leadership has decided to meet with leadership of other parties so that to set a possible solution of this problem. Paying glowing tributes to Bashir Bilour, JUI-F MPA Mufti Kifayatullah proposed government to name Bashir Bilour as “Peace Ambassador” and nominate his son on his vacant seat to become member of this august house like his father, who has been assassinated along with eight other people in a suicide blast in Dakki Nalbandi on December 22 last.
Meanwhile, to improve the condition of streets and drainage system, the political administration of Mohmand Agency has rehabilitated three link roads, several streets and structured sewerage system in different villages of the agency.
The administration has completed these uplift schemes in Faizabad Malik Daud, Zor Kalay, Shakarai Killi, Malik Fauji Kallay Tamanzai, and Malik Raees Kalli Mira Kor villages, which will benefit thousands of local inhabitants. A press release issued by Fata Secretariat stated that prioritising urgent needs of the dwellers, the administration constructed 1652 meters long link road along with 135 metre extensive street in Faizabad Malik Daud village of Tehsil Ambar. Likewise administration completed another project in Zor village of Tehsil Khwezai by constructing 1509 meters long extensive link road and paved 76 meters drains. In its ongoing efforts, 1271 meters extensive link road and 152 meters drain was reconstructed in Shakarai village of Tehsil Khewzai, Mohmand Agency. Political Tehsildar Khwezai inaugurated the road. To improve the poor condition of streets, in Malik Fauji Kalley Tamanzai in Tehsil Pindiali, 1185 meters lengthy street was paved, which was formally inaugurated by Political Tehsildar. Whereas 713 meters extensive street along with 91 meters long drains was constructed in Malik Raees Kalli Mir Kor Tamanzai of Tehsil Pindiali.
