Three POs killed in shootout


FAISALABAD - Three notorious proclaimed offenders were killed in shootout with police here in the jurisdiction of Dijkot Police late the other night. The police source claimed that the police personnel signalled a suspicious car at a picket up near Dijkot but instead to stop the car, the outlaws opened indiscriminate fire on them. Meanwhile, the police also retaliated and called in more police personnel.
A shootout erupted between the police and the outlaws which continued for sometime. Resultantly, three outlaws were killed on the spot who were later identified as Akram alias Jora and two brothers including proclaimed offenders Azhar alias Lado and Muhammad Khan alias Fani. One of the accused Akram alias Jora was handed out death sentence by a court. However, he was got freed from the police custody by his accomplices when he was being taken somewhere two days prior to the court verdict.
The outlaws had also snatched weapons from the police personnel during the incident. The police also recovered some of the snatched weapons after the shootout. Reportedly, these three proclaimed offenders were symbol of terror in the area. People have expressed happiness on their death and took out a rally in favour of police at Clock Tower Square.
Model Sasta Bazaar: On the special directions of Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif, a Model Sasta Bazaar is being established in the city to provide quality daily-use items to consumers on concessional rates.
This was stated DCO Naseem Sadiq while presiding over a meeting held to review arrangements for the model bazaar. He said that the model bazaar was being set up over 13 acres of land in front of old octroi on Jhang Road which would also house multi-purposes economic, social and recreational activities. It will be a unique and remarkable welfare project wherein the consumers will not only purchase essential commodities on reduced prices but will also enjoy a number of recreational activities.
The DCO informed that the Sasta Bazaar would be arranged four days in a week i.e. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Unfolding the plan, Naseem Sadiq said that a food street programme at the site of the model bazaar and facilities of booking for marriage ceremonies and school functions would also be provided besides arranging one day motorcycle and car fair. He said that a daylong medical camp and book fair would also be arranged once a week for the book-lovers.
 The DCO said that booking of stalls had been started and the producers/manufacturers of food items would be given priority in this regard. He informed that necessary technical and administrative arrangements had been finalized to operationalise the bazaar which would be run under the Model Bazaar Welfare Organization.
