Islamabad- Members of parliament from FATA have challenged in Islamabad High Court (IHC), presidential ordinance promulgated on the request of federal government, in connection with senate polls for 2015 in FATA.
More than 6 members of parliament including GB Jamal, MNA from FATA challenged the ordinance today making federation , president of Pakistan and law ministry through secretary respondents.
The petitioners have taken the plea that promulgating presidential ordinance at 11 O, clock at night with regard to senate polls, is flagrant defiance of constitution of Pakistan. This ordinance has been promulgated on the request of federal government to keep FATA parliamentarians from senate elections. The people of FATA earlier could cast 4 votes, but as per this presidential ordinance they can case only one vote, petition said.
Petitioners prayed the court to declare the presidential ordinance promulgated for Senate polls in FATA illegal and void.
