Islamabad The visiting Australian Chief of Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Allan Grant (Angus) Houston, called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and discussed matters of professional interest. According to the informed sources, the visiting dignitary remained with the Army Chief for sometime and discussed the issues related to the regional security. They also discussed situation in Afghanistan and Pakistans efforts to curb militancy and extremism in the country. General Kayani briefed Australian Chief of Defence Force about the steps taken by the security forces to take on terrorists in Malakand, Bajaur, South Waziristan Agency, Orakzai and Khyber Agencies. Army Chief also called upon the international community to help Pakistan in provision of relevant technologies in enhancing Pakistans capability in tackling challenges relating to low intensity conflicts such as terrorism and insurgency. The visiting dignitary assured all out support of his country in helping Pakistan to tackle these challenges. He also expressed his condolences over the human losses Pakistani security forces had suffered during the ongoing war against terror.
