Cotton arrival at ginning factories increases

MULTAN - The arrival of cotton at country’s ginning factories has registered 23.17 per cent increase, disclosed a fortnightly break up issued by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA). The break up shows that around 3.44 million cotton bales were sourced to the country’s ginners by Sept 30, 2012. According to details, as many as 28,04,849 cotton bales were sold to the textile units while 36,740 bales were lifted by the exporters. Thus, overall 28,41,589 bales were traded without TCP participating in the trading activity so far.
A total 440 out of 1200 ginning factories are operational in Sindh and Punjab and the latter contributed 18,26,069 bales which is 3.24 percent less than last year when Punjab contributed 18,87,120 bales. Similarly, Sindh contributed 16,21,094 bales which is 77.87 percent high than last year when it contributed 9,11,653 bales and Balochistan 1000 bales.
