Shahbaz Sharif issues instructions for launching “Saaf Pani Project”

LAHORE- Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that “Saaf Pani Project” is of vital importance and billions of rupees are being spent on this project.

He said that human life and health is directly linked with clean drinking water, therefore, government has evolved a big project of supply of potable water to the citizens. He was presiding over a high level meeting regarding “Saaf Pani Project” today. A detailed briefing was given to the Chief Minister regarding the project. Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said that provision of potable water to the masses is the responsibility of the government.

He directed that necessary measures be taken for launching “Saaf Pani Project” as soon as possible as a lot of time of the nation has already been wasted. He said that the project should be executed on fast track basis and instead of launching this project in 12 districts in the first phase, a strategy be adopted for starting this project in 18 districts of the province. Similarly, he said, planning should also be made for initiating this project in the remaining 18 districts.

Shahbaz Sharif also directed that a comprehensive plan be evolved for making functional the non-functional water schemes. Moreover, he said, a separate plan should be devised for the big cities. The meeting also reviewed the pace of progress on “Saaf Pani Project”.
