DPC holds anti-US protests today

LAHORE – Expressing complete solidarity with Jamaatud Dawah chief, Defence of Pakistan Council (DPC) leaders said Thursday they would foil all bids of the US administration to defame Professor Hafiz Muhammad Saeed who was campaigning against restoration of Nato supplies.  They demanded that President Asif Zardari should cancel the proposed Indian visit, which they alleged was being undertaken in the garb of a visit to the shrine of Nizamuddin Aulia (RA). Leaders of DPC addressing a press conference here at Press Club, said the US head money on Saeed was an open interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs ridiculing the local courts. The DPC leaders who addressed the press conference include Qari Yaqoob, Maulana Ameer Hamza, Dr Farid Paracha, Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi, Pir Saifullah Khalid, Maulana Asim Makhdoom, Qari Yusuf Ahrar, Ibtesam Elahi Zaheer, Abdul Ghaffar Rupari and others, while JUI-F Punjab information secretary, Hafiz Abubakar Chaudhry also joined the press conference to express solidarity with Saeed. They said the head money was announced at a time when Saeed was campaigning against restoration of Nato supplies, involvement of the US and Indian agents in Balochistan unrest and award of MFN status to India on US pressure despite that Delhi had blocked Pakistani waters to cripple the agriculture. They said the DPC would hold protests and rallies on Friday (today) as part of a countrywide protest day against the US intervention in Pakistan and creating Indian hegemony in South Asia. They appealed to the prayer leaders to highlight the US and Indian designs against Pakistan in Friday sermons and other meetings to educate the masses about the grave dangers faced by the country.
