Lahore Division Commissioner Abdullah Khan Sumbal paid a surprise visit to Kasur DHQ Hospital to check the facilities and quality of healthcare being provided to the patients.
He also went to the computerised land record centre, review pace of work on the under-construction sports stadium and security arrangements in schools during his visit on Tuesday.
The commissioner was accompanied by DCO Salman Ghani, DPO Syed Nasir Ali Rizvi, Kasur AC Shah Rukh Niazi and DSP Akram Khan.
During a visit to the DHQ Hospital, the commissioner inspected medicine storeroom, X-ray room, laboratory, OPD ward, medical ward, surgical ward, children ward and emergency ward.
On the occasion, MS Dr Shahnaz Naseem briefed him about the facilities being provided to the patients in the hospital. On the occasion, Abdullah Sumbal said that the Punjab government is taking steps for the betterment of the healthcare dispensation system. He directed the officers concerned to perform their duty honestly and devotedly to ameliorate sufferings of the citizens.
Later, he visited the computerised land record centre and inquired the people about the functioning of the modern revenue record system in the district.
The divisional commissioner also went to the site of under-construction sports stadium on Khem Karan Road. He observed the pace of work on the project and directed the officials concerned to ensure its completion within the stipulated period. He also visited a private school where he inspected the security arrangements. Mr Sumbal also visited the food street on Mall Road to check the model stalls set up there.
Rehab underway: Work on the rehabilitation and strengthening of reservoir rim of Mangla Dam near Khaliqabad is underway at a brisk pace and is likely to be completed in the upcoming August.
According to an Wapda press release issued here on Friday, two contracts worth Rs1.248 billion were awarded on March 22, for the rehabilitation the Mangla Dam reservoir rim.
The release said that the Wapda is confidant to complete the rehabilitation works by the end of August, 2016 in a phased-manner in accordance with the schedule agreed with the Indus River System Authority (IRSA).
The coffer dam on the site is 70 percent complete and is expected to be fully completed by April 10. The coffer dam will facilitate carrying out construction activities without any hindrance and filling of Mangla reservoir.
