Terror bid foiled as explosive-laden rickshaw seized

QUETTA : A police team foiled a terror bid as it seized an explosive-laden auto rickshaw near an Easter Bypass area here on Monday. According to police, unidentified miscreants had parked an explosive-and rickshaw near a petrol pump at Hazaragani in the outskirts of Quetta. Suspecting it suspicious, a police team took the rickshaw into custody and called the Bomb Disposal Squad after recovering heavy explosives planted in it. The BDS briskly acted and managed to defuse the explosives before they could cause destruction. “More than 200 kg explosives were planted in the rickshaw and a mobile phone was also recovered,” a police official said adding that they have been investigating the incident from different angles. Talking to media, Investigation Deputy Inspector General Fayyaz Ahmed Sumbal said that a police team responded to the situation and seized the rickshaw, adding that the miscreants had parked it on the main road.
He said that security has been beefed up while police personnel have been deployed in plain dress to have vigilance in the city.
