Training of college principals ends

GUJRAT-The five-day training of the 52 principals of various government colleges of Punjab ended at Hafiz Hayat Campus of University of Gujrat (UoG) on Friday.
After the training, they felt overwhelmingly pumped up for better performance with latest management and administrative skills in areas of governance, finance and audit controls.
The workshop titled "Short-term training of college principals/DDOs in Governance, Finance and Audit" was funded by Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) in collaboration with Government of Punjab's Department of Higher Education.
It was attended by the principals of boys and girls colleges from the districts of Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Nankana Saheb.
UoG Registrar Dr Tahir Aqil was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony. "Good governance always guarantees progress. It plays an important role in institutional progress as well," Dr Tahir Aqil said. He thanked the PHEC for choosing the UoG as venue to conduct the workshop. He lauded the role of PHEC in identifying areas needing immediate attention in Punjab's public sector colleges, which he described as the most neglected sector of higher education.
"The government of Punjab has been doing a lot to improve the system of education in the province. The UoG has also launched a number of projects to achieve educational reforms and upgradation goals," Dr Tahir Aqil said. He added, "PHEC training workshops for elementary school teachers and heads and now for college principals at the UoG clearly shows our commitment to the cause, progress and development of education in the country."
"PHEC and HED are committed to the cause of education in the country. These training sessions are designed to enhance the management skills and capabilities of principals for successful running of educational institutions, which will ultimately help boost promotion and development of education in the country," Mr Khurram Jhan Zeb, chief operating officer of PHEC, said during an interactive session with the principals at the end of the training.
Dr Rao Tahir, additional treasurer of Punjab University, was the resource person who conducted the last four sessions on the final day of the training.
During the earlier sessions of training, experts in various disciplines explained to the college heads latest developments and techniques with regard to institutional management, audit and financial controls. They included Dr Rauf-e-Azam, vice chancellor of the University of Education Lahore, Dr Muhammad Fahim Malik, UoG Dean Faculty of Sciences, Dr Ijaz Butt and Dr Muhammad Amjad Saleemi.
