KARACHI An activist of Awami National Party (ANP) was killed and his elder brother got injured on Sunday when unidentified gunmen opened fire on their car on Abul Hassan Isphani Road, police said. The incident took place near Paradise Bakery when 35-year-old Dawood Khan son of Abdul Qayyum was going along with his brother Irfan, 35. Two unidentified armed bikers opened indiscriminate firing on them. Resultantly both sustained injuries. Police shifted them to Agha Khan University Hospital (AKUH) where Irfan succumbed to his injuries. After the incident, tension engulfed Abul Hassan Isphani Road, Quaid Azam Colony and surrounding areas. Police said victim was the resident of Azeem Goth Quaid-e-Azam Colony, Gulshan Iqbal, and used to run a transport business, adding that after the incident heavy contingents of police and rangers were deployed in the areas to maintain law and order. Police said victim hailed from Waziristan and was an active member of ANP. Spokesman of ANP Qadir khan condemned the incident and demanded of the Government to arrest the culprits. Police said Irfan received three bullets while his brother received four bullets and his condition was critical, adding that Dawood is the member of ANP Sindh Council. No case was registered till filing of the report. In another incident a woman was shot dead in her house at Mehran Town, Korangi, within the limits of Korangi Industrial Area. The victim 16-year-old Naseema wife of Imtiaz Khoso was busy in house work suddenly two or three unidentified armed men entered her house and after exchanging heated words, they opened fire. Resultantly one bullet hit her in head and she died on the spot. Police shifted her body Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post mortem. Police said the victim hailed from district Dadu Interior Sindh, adding during initial investigation police revealed that motive behind the incident is personal enmity.
