5,837 UoS students get laptops


SARGODHA – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said distributed 5,837 laptops to male and female students of the University of Sargodha on Wednesday.
Addressing the distribution ceremony at the university campus, the chief minister said that Zar Baba (President Zardari) had set new corruption records in the country. The federal rulers were busy plundering national exchequer and the people as well, he added.  “They will be accountable to the people in the forthcoming general elections. The distribution of laptops does not mean purchasing votes. Such rumours have astonished me how people can think like this,” he said. “I did not established Danish Schools to get votes. The thoughts of our students are great and they could not be hoodwinked.”
Regarding eradication of dengue, he said that the Punjab government launched an anti-dengue campaign that remained very successful as no person has died of the disease across the province. He detailed, “When the drive was started, a big Khan Sahib (Imran Khan) awarded us the title of ‘Dengue Brothers’. We made an all-out effort to tackle all impediments to make record progress and welfare of the people under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif.
Meanwhile, a female student protested, saying the she was on merit but the university administration did not select her for this award. However, the police and security personnel held her.
TWO MPAS TO N: On the other side, two PPP members of the Punjab Assembly have decided to jump on the PML-N bandwagon, said sources on Wednesday. 
MPA Kamil Shamail Gujjar and Rana Munawar Ghous will defect the Pakistan People’s Party and join the PML-N.
LECTURE ON IQBAL: The University of Sargodha conducted a lecture on "Bharat Main Iqbal Shanasi" at MBA Hall.
Renowned Urdu scholar and researcher from Delhi University, India, Dr Abdul Haq, was invited as chief guest while Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Akram Chaudhry presided over the ceremony.
In his address, Dr Abdul Haq said that a great love of Iqbal with Allah and the Last and Final Messenger (SAWW) is found in his Urdu and Persian poetry therefore the great poet is respected across the world.  He said that in most of Indian newspapers, shops, schools, colleges, universities and other places Iqbal's poetry was displayed during the period of 1947 to 1962.
Dr Muhammad Akram Chaudhary in his presidential address paid rich tribute to Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He said people from all walks of life especially the youth should follow in the thoughts of Allama Iqbal. 
On the occasion, Dr Rafiuddin Hashmi elaborated the important aspects of Iqbal's poetry and message. Later, a memorable shield was presented to Dr Abdul Haq.
