Pakistani media delegation visits Chinas Forbidden City

BEIJING Exchange of delegations from different walks of life of the two countries would help strengthen friendly and cordial relations between Pakistan and China, media representatives of both countries said on Tuesday. After Pak-China friendship year celebrations, one day people from both countries would also mark the Sino-Pak friendships centenary celebrations, they added. Pakistani media delegation visiting China spent a busy day on Tuesday here in Beijing. China Radio International (CRI) managed a tour for Pakistani media delegation to Forbidden City. The Pakistani delegation was informed that Beijing a city of 20 million people was the biggest city of China. But, with 5 million cars plying on roads, the city could not afford the traffic load. Therefore, the Chinese government had allowed the cars to run on the roads for only four days a week. The media persons were informed that Chinese government in a bid to discourage use of motor cars on the roads had reduced the fares of the public buses. The Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty. It is located in the middle of Beijing, and now houses the Palace Museum. For almost five hundred years, it served as the home of emperors and their households, as well as the ceremonial and political centre of Chinese government, the delegation was told. Forbidden City built in 1406 to 1420; the complex consists of 980 buildings with 8,707 bays of rooms and covers 7,800,000 sq ft. The palace complex exemplifies traditional Chinese palatial architecture, and has influenced cultural and architectural developments in East Asia and elsewhere. The Forbidden City was declared a World Heritage Site in 1987, and is listed by UNESCO as the largest collection of preserved ancient wooden structures in the world, the delegation was informed. Chinese media persons while responding to a question said China had no religion but they got Buddhism from India. They said they believed in five elements fire, wind/air, earth, water and void. We think if we get control of these elements our future will be safe and bright, they said. The delegation also visited summer palace founded by King Quain long in 1750s. The summer palace was founded in the name of kings mother on her 60th birthday. The unique aspect of the summer palace is worlds largest passage measuring 728 meters, the longest covered passage of the world. It was learnt during the summer palace visit that Chinese flag on which five stars are printed, the first biggest star stands for communist party, second for farmers, third for business, fourth for intellectuals and fifth star stands for entire nation. Lin Wei, a young lady reporter of CRI, while talking to this scribe, said Pak-China friendship is like brotherhood. Both the countries have same programmes like lots of imports and exports. She said especially Chinese and Pakistani people are good friends. We are happy on being with the delegation of Pakistani journalists and hope media delegation exchanges would result in stronger friendship, she said.
