Kashmir Highway as yet sans expansion, non-payment issue

ISLAMABAD- The expansion project of Kashmir Highway which was to be completed by February 2013 is still in doldrums; however one part has been opened for traffic.

The expansion project is estimated to cost Rs 4.8 billion and its completion date was extended to June 2014.

Sources informed that CDA did not pay the contract firms Rs 35 million in the first phase nor Rs 250 million in the second phase, due to which work was halted.

Authorities confirmed that the project would be completed within two to three weeks.
