QUETTA - A man was killed and 19 others were injured in a bomb explosion in Quetta on Sunday evening. The blast took place near a shopping centre in the area.
Rescue sources said that the blast took place near Bacha Khan Chowk in the provincial capital where a bomb planted by unknown miscreants exploded with big bang.
One person died in the explosion while 19 others including three women and two children sustained wounds.
The police and rescue personnel shifted the injured to Civil Hospital Quetta where according to hospital sources condition of four wounded people was serious and it was feared that death toll could rise further.
The blast smashed windows of nearby shops and plazas and also damaged vehicles parked nearby.
According to Quetta Capital City Police Officer Razzak Cheema, the bomb was planted in a motorcycle parked in the area.
Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has taken notice of the blast and called for a report.
Bacha Khan Chowk is a business centre and was at its busiest when the blast occurred.
There was no claim of responsibility of the attack.
THREE LABOURERS DIE IN PASNI GUN ATTACK
At least three labourers were killed in what appears to be a targeted attack in Pasni district on Sunday.
According to Levies sources, unknown gunmen shot and killed three labourers in Pasni.
All the three victims belonged to Khanewal district of Punjab.
Sources said the assailants also snatched weapons from the Levies men and sped away. Nobody claimed responsibility for the attack, but suspicions are likely to fall on Baloch insurgents groups.
In another incident, two terrorists belonging to a banned outfit were arrested along with arms during a joint search operation in Quetta on Sunday.
According to details, the Anti Terrorism Force (ATF) and intelligence agencies personnel on a secret report conducted a search operation in Goharabad area at Saryab Road.
During the operation, the security personnel after minor resistance arrested two accused stated to be members of a defunct organisation. Arms were also recovered from their possession.
According to the security sources, the accused are involved in numerous targeted killings and bombings in Quetta. They were shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogations.
