KARACHI- Five children were died in a private hospital in Korangi area of Karachi today.
Bereaved parents staged strong protest over negligence of hospital administration and medics. Infants died when oxygen ran down in incubators and ventilators, parents claimed. Parents demanded justice for their deceased children. The protestors blocked Korangi road which prompted provincial government to call in Sindh rangers to control situation and avert any untoward incident in the area.
While the hospital administration has denied any negligence and asserted that massive power outage caused suspension of oxygen supply to life saving apparatuses.
Taking notice of news reports, the Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul-Ibad Khan and the Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah issued directions to authorities concerned to take strict action against those responsible for deaths. On directives of the Chief Minister Sindh, provincial health department has constituted a two-member committee to probe the issue and fix responsibility of the tragic incident. The committee would submit a report within 24 hours, said Executive Director of Health Karachi.
