COAS meets Sri Lankan Army Commander

Rawalpindi:  Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, who is on an official visit to Sri Lanka held a meeting with the Sri Lankan Army Commander and discussed  matters of professional interest, ways and means for further enhancing bilateral defence ties.

During the meeting with Commander of the Sri Lankan Army ,General A.W.J.C De Silva, at the Sri Lankan army HQ, General Raheel focused on mutually benefitting from each other's experience in fighting terrorism.

The Sri Lankan Army chief highly praised Pakistan army for its professionalism, and successes in Operation Zarb-e-Azb for bringing peace and stability in the region.

On arrival at Army HQ, General Raheel Sharif was presented guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of Sri Lankan army. Later, General Raheel Sharif was given a detailed briefing about the operational and training aspects of Sri Lankan army.

General A.W.J.C De Silva thanked General Raheel Sharif for timely and much needed support during Koslandawatta – Meeriyabedda devastating mudslide in Budhala, Srilanka last year.  COAS also called on Vice Admiral SAMJ Perera, Commander Srilanka Navy at Naval Headquarters on matters of mutual interest.
