60 suspects arrested in Quetta

QUETTA Law-enforcement agencies rounded up more than 60 suspects in Quetta in connection with the murder of 14 people belonging to Hazara community of Shiite Muslims. Unknown armed assailants on Tuesday morning intercepted a local mini-bus at Aktharabad area of Quetta and killed 14 people including 13 members of Hazara community and one of Sunni sect besides wounding 6 others. 'Police backed by Frontier Corps and other law-enforcement agencies carried out raids and search drive in different localities of Quetta, including Sariab, Western Bypass, Chakki Shawani, Kharotabad and Killi Qambrani, and took into custody more than 60 suspects, a police official said ,adding, that the raids were carried out night between Tuesday and Wednesday. He stated that the suspects were being interrogated while innocent persons would soon be released after completion of interrogation. On the other hand, shops and markets located in Hazara dominated areas, including Marriabad and Hazara town remained closed as Hazara Democratic Party and Shia Ulema Council had announced three-day mourning and shutter-down strike against the tragic incident.
