OUR STAFF REPORTER FAISALABAD - Forest net in Pakistan has reduced to two per cent against the international standard of 25 per cent while it (forest net) was six per cent at the time of independence. This was stated by the speakers while addressing a workshop titled Mass Communication Skills in Agriculture that was organised by the University of Agriculture in collaboration with Cereal System Initiative South Asia (CSISA). The session was presided over by UAF Faculty of Agriculture Dean Prof Dr Muhammad Ashfaq while Dr Muhammad Aqil Khan from CSISA, Extension Department Project Director Muhammad Asif and Faisalabd EDO Agriculture Rao Farman Ali, also spoke on the occasion. Dr Khalid Mehmood was the trainer on the workshop. The workshop was aimed at enhancing the capacity of the agricultural extension workers that will pave way to the road of development by transferring the goods into services. Addressing the gathering, Prof Ashfaq stressed the need to polishing the skills of extension workers in a bid to make the process of transforming the technology among the farmer community. He said it was time to promote Moringa, a plant, as it had 7 times more vitamin C than orange and 4 times vitamin A than carrot and 4 times more calcium than milk. He said that with the use of it as fodder, we could increase the production of milk 43 per cent to 65 per cent.
