PESHAWAR - Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, will hold All Opposition Parties Conference on energy crisis, drone attacks and operations in Fata on September 20 in Peshawar.
All opposition parties whether inside or outside of the Parliament would be formally invited to the conference except ruling ANP and PPP, JUI-F KPK Secretary Information Abdul Jalil Jan told The Nation.
Being a major opposition party, the JUI-F has shouldered this responsibility to convene the APC of opposition parties. The scheduled APC, he informed, would take place in the light of that decision taken at opposition parties’ meeting, wherein, they have decided not only to boycott the ANP convened ‘energy conference’ on August 9 last, but also to call a separate energy conference by the opposition parties.
So, as per commitment, the JUI-F has called APC of opposition parties, which would take place in Peshawar on September 20.
The proceedings of the conference, Mr. Jalil Jan said would formally begin at 2pm at the JUI-F provincial headquarter situated on Ring Road. Formal invitations have so far been extended to PML-N and JI, and they have agreed to attend the conference.
Actually, a number of significant issues would be discussed and later future strategy would be evolved in the light of the recommendations of the conference, he maintained adding opposition parties must show unity at this stage. When asked why did the opposition parties boycott the ANP convened energy conference, he replied that it was a futile exercise on the party of the provincial government.
Being in power at both center and KPK, the ANP totally failed to take up power outage issue with Federal Government.
However, after sensing gravity of the situation that majority of electricity consumers in the province took to streets, then, the KPK government decided to call energy conference, which the opposition parties considered a futile exercise, he concluded.
