PESHAWAR
Though the government schools reopened six days ago after two-and-half month summer vacations, the government has yet to vacate 572 schools from North Waziristan's IDPs, who are presently residing there, officials said.
At present, over one million displaced people are living in Bannu, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, Karak, Lakki Marwat and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa owing to the on going military operation against militants in North Waziristan Agency. They said that most of the IDPs avoided residing at camps set up for them at FR Bakka Khel area in Bannu district, therefore the government has to open government schools and other buildings for this purpose.
The IDPs, who started their arrival from the agency to downtowns of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after the full-scale operation was launched against militants on June 15 last. Schools were opened for them and most of the displaced families took shelter at around 905 state-run schools.
Days before the reopening of schools, the officials said, the government and district administration concerned directed the IDPs to vacate schools instead of doing so, they launched a series of protest against the administration.
After hectic efforts, they said the government vacated only 335 schools out of the total 907 and the IDPs were shifted to the nearby camps. "However, still thousands of displaced families were residing in over 572 schools," they informed.
The enraged IDPs, who were not ready to leave schools, said that they would never reside at camps, asking the government to take solid steps to accommodate them. The IDPs have also held protests in Bannu districts against vacating of schools by the government. They called upon the government that it would  be better if they were sent back to the areas that have already been cleared from militants.
They warned if the government did not leave them to stay at schools then they would be left with no option other than to march towards Islamabad and protest in front of the Parliament House against government's unjust act.
KP PSC announces results of competitive exam, 2013
