Pakistan condoles deaths of coalition forces in Yemen

Islamabad: Pakistan today conveyed condolences over the deaths of soldiers of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

A deadly attack on the soldiers of the Coalition in Yemen yesterday resulted in the loss of sixty lives, including forty-five from the United Arab Emirates.

“On behalf of the people and the Government of Pakistan, the Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sartaj Aziz, wishes to convey heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” the Foreign Ministry said.

He also shared the grief of the brotherly peoples and Governments of the United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Kingdom of Bahrain over the attack on their soldiers.

“Pakistan has strongly condemned actions by Houthis to overthrow the legitimate government in Yemen led by President Hadi. We fully support the political objectives of the Coalition to restore unconditionally the legitimate Government in Yemen and withdrawal of Houthis from the territories seized by them including Sana’a.”

Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan firmly believes that peaceful settlement of the crisis in Yemen, in accordance with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216, will significantly contribute to the efforts to promote peace and security in the region.
