LAHORE- The Supreme Court  accepted the plea of disqualified MNA Sultan Mahmood Hinjra of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and reinstated him by annulling Bahawalpur election tribunal's decision.

The two-member bench of the apex court under Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk accepted the plea of the PML-N lawmaker. The court in its ruling reinstated Hinjra and issued notices to the other parties, while also halting re-elections in NA-176 by the Election Commission.
The election tribunal had disqualified Hinjra on the allegations of rigging. After his disqualification, Hinjra had moved to the Supreme Court. Losing candidate, Ghulam Mustafa Khar, had filed a plea with the election tribunal that Hinjra did not qualify under articles 62 and 63 of the constitution therefore he should be disqualified as he had concealed his assets and his property including a 13 marla plot which he had got from the government.

Hinjra was also alleged to have won the election in NA-176 through fake results manipulated by returning officers. These allegations had led to disqualification of Hinjra.
