QUETTA - A complete shutter-down strike was observed in various Baloch-dominated districts of Balochistan on Thursday against Gebon incident, in which three alleged militants were killed by Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan during a predawn raid.Frontier Corps claimed during a raid on a house in Gebon area, some 20 km away from Turbat town FC personnel killed three alleged militants and arrested two others following an extensive exchange of firing on Wednesday.However, relatives of three men identified as Hakim Shahsawar, Rasool Bakhsh and Maula Bakhsh insisted that they were unarmed and were in asleep when they were targeted.Baloch National Front (BNF) an alliance of different nationalist parties, had given shutter-down strike call to protest and condemn murder of three people at the hands of security personnel.All shops, markets and business activities remained shut in Turbat, Mand, Tump, Panjgour, Awaran, Kharan and others towns while traffic plying on the roads was also thin as compared to normal days.Local administration had taken tight security measures to thwart any untoward incident by deploying FC and Levies personnel. However, no unpleasant incident was reported.On the other hand, dozens of activists of Baloch Human Rights Organisation staged a demo outside Quetta Press Club against Gebon incident.Protesters were carrying placards, banners and shouting slogans demanding humanitarian organisations for taking notice of alleged State atrocities and genocide of Balochs.Speakers addressing the demo criticised government and law-enforcement agencies for their alleged excesses towards Balochs.
