Students need facilities to excel like Arfa: AQ Khan

Rawalpindi - The nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadir Khan on Saturday said that there were thousands of students like Arfa Karim who wanted to do for the betterment and uplift of the country and the nation but they were facing lack of facilities.
He said that the country would be put on track of development if the government established any department to polish the skills of such shining and talented students.  “Though I never met with Arfa Karim but she was a brilliant student,” Dr AQ Khan added.
He said this while addressing a ceremony titled “Dreams of Arfa Karim (Daughter of the Nation) and Way Forward” here on Saturday. The ceremony was jointly organised by Al-Ghurair Giga, National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and Arfa Karim Foundation.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr AQ Khan said that the government should pay heed towards industrial sector as there were only a few industries in Pakistan. “Pakistan cannot develop without industries,” he said, adding that Haji Raffique Giga wished for remembering the services of Arfa Karim. He also requested Giga Group Chairman and NUST administration to establish a special institution for imparting education of information technology among the brilliant students and provide them an opportunity to take part in country’s development.
Giga Group of Companies Chairman Haji Raffique Giga said that Arfa Karim would remain alive in Pakistanis’ hearts for ever. “There are a number of talented students like Arfa Karim living in Pakistan. There is a dire need to search such students and give them level field to show their skills,” he said and added that the Giga group had built many seminaries and educational institutions to impart education among the masses.
Tight security arrangements were made on the occasion by the law enforcement agencies to avoid any untoward incident.
