KARACHI: Karachi fire brigade department has completed its report and called the fire in Regent Plaza as an accident which claimed 12 lives and injured more than 110.
According to Chief Fire Officer Tehseen Ahmed, “the causes of fire in the hotel are not clear.” He also ruled out any possibility of sabotage behind the fire incident. As per investigation it seemed that the fire started spreading from the kitchen of the hotel, said Tehseen Ahmed.
Police also investigated the probability of the fire being an act of sabotage, but no such evidence was found.
“The hotel’s administration delayed the emergency response because they did not have a system to deal with fire, as they were not equipped according to international standards,” said the police.
Fire Brigade officials also said, “There was only one proper emergency exit at the hotel. The light and AC systems were not shut.”
